I have returned from my week in Ecuador and I am sad that my one big trip for the summer has ended. I went to Ecuador with my church and we worked with Compassion International to introduce Soccer camps into the country. If you have ever heard of Upward Basketball it was a lot like that. We did drills two days and then a tournament, and in between games shared bible stories. Our week was very successful and our trial run has opened the door for this program to continue in the country.
Interesting things about the Trip:
1. breast feeding is a very public thing, and the women would feed there babies in the middle of church.
2. church last about two hours
3. it is a tradition in Ecuador to get a cake smashed into your face on your birthday. (guess whose birthday was during the trip? ding ding, thats right, me)
4. coke was only 40 cents!
5. monkeys roam the towns like dogs
6. it is rude if you do not eat your whole meal, so i suggest you sit by a hungry boy if you ever go
7. i do not know near enough spanish
8. the lord can still work through a bunch of americans who don't speak spanish to speak and teach his word to the Ecuadorians, and he did during our trip.
A Few Pictures:
A Volcano Erupted in Ecuador and our flight down there was delayed 14 hours. Once we got on the airplane we waited for another 2 and a half hours before we took off. On our trek back home we sat on the airplane for 2 hours. We learned that Miami wasn't too fond of Dawson.
