May 9th

Hello readers,
I have some sad news to report, I will be moving to New York in about 2 weeks to take over Meredith's job on the Today Show. I am very sad to be leaving the south and all the "fratness" down here, along with Chickfila, but those are sacrifices I am willing to take since this is just such a big break for my career. I mean you cannot expect me to turn down the co-host of my The Today Show can you?

How I wish I could really be saying those words and not just be kidding around and instead be lying in bed (in a room with a broken air conditioner) after going through the list of stores at the summit and emailing them and asking them if they were hiring. Then I start thinking how much I would like a job this summer, and how much I "need" a job and think of the moms and dads who are discouraged about not finding a job and who REALLY need a job to support their families. It gets frustrating after multiple attempts of putting your name out there and not getting called back, but I cannot imagine what adults  are feeling. So I guess I can say my eyes were opened to what our economy is really like today.

In other news, I am home for summer and enjoying it. I got to catch up with my friend Sydney and we went to see Something Borrowed tonight. The movie was really cute, and now I will be reading the books. One of the most frequent places the movie takes place was at the Shake Shack in New York City which happened to be one of the highlights of our trips. Let me share a story that Annie reminded me of tonight that you may get a kick out of:

So it had been a long day of walking and subwaying and the 5 girls on the trip were really just in the mood  to enjoy a soft pretzel and Diet Coke (with a straw I might add) and so we made it to Madison Square Park where the Shake Shack from the movie is located and decided to plop down on some gravel in the middle of the park to rest our feet. We realized that everyone kept staring us as we walked by, but we just figured they could tell we were tourists and were laughing at our accents. Eventually we noticed the number of dogs around us.. yes.. we were in the doggy bathroom area.. and so we basically were sitting on dog pee.. Yes it was a rookie mistak. I guess that is what happens when you bring Southern to the City.

Anyways,  I had some mobile uploads for you but due to whimpy internet here it appears they will not make it today. See you next post!
